However, recent studies and test have shown red tea to be as good if NOT better than many of the teas we are used to drinking.
1. Why is Red Tea Beneficial & Shrinks Fat
The reason red tea is raising in popularity is because of something called Rooibos. Rooibos is a broom-like member of the Fabaceae family of plants growing in South Africa and does not contain caffeine.
When researched, a study showed components found in the rooibos plant, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, inhibit the formation of new fat cells by 22 percent. Potentially dangerous fat found in the blood, such as triglyceride concentrations were lowered significantly by drinking red tea regularly.
The leaves of this plant are used to make a herbal tea that is often called by the Southern African tribes as Bush Tea. The tribe often drinks this tea for the powerful healing and weight loss properties and now, many countries worldwide consume this delicious tea.
Further studies show Red Tea containing rooibos has weight loss benefits and is good for your immune system.
2. Comparing Red Tea to Coffee
When you consider most people add multiple spoons of sugar. milk and other sugary flavors to their coffee every day, it's easy to see how a cup of coffee can quickly pack on the pounds. A cup of coffee that starts out with little to no calories now has anything from 35 to 250 calories or more per cup.
Drinking several cups of red tea which is natural and delicious and has fat burning properties is a much better alternative.

SA Rooibos Council
Ernest du Toit, spokesperson for the SA Rooibos Council , says the indigenous tea offers dieters a healthy, enjoyable and sustainable way to lose weight.
“Rooibos tea contains no fat or carbohydrates and its weight-loss properties further extends to inhibiting fat-storage hormones within the body. Rooibos’s unique Bioflavonoid, Aspalathin, helps to reduce stress hormones that trigger hunger and fat storage, typically associated with high blood pressure, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. In a nutshell, rooibos tea can prevent the body from storing and even forming new fat cells.
“Rooibos tea is also caffeine-free and naturally sweet so there’s no need to add extra sugar. Plus it comes in a variety of flavors like berry, cinnamon, mint and citrus. It’s also 100% natural with no additives, no preservatives and no chemicals,” he says.
